The Ayer Devens Regional Pocket Forest Project used a number of data sources to analyze the Devens and Ayer landscapes  These analyses, coupled with a robust community engagement process, helped our team to identify areas where green spaces were lacking/underutilized and where pocket forests could be most impactful.  The Ayer pilot site was chosen due to its proximity to rail, high traffic volume roads, dense development, and expansive paved areas.  Below are some of the data sources that were used to help inform our team’s site selection process:
